 The development of Colonialism and Imperialism in Indonesia
1. The arrival of Western Nations in Different Areas

Beginning in the late fifteenth century Europeans trying to do the exploration of the ocean. Factors driving the exploration of the ocean, among others:


a. The existence of the desire for wealth (gold)

Wealth that they are looking primarily for spices. Around the fifteenth century in Europe, when spices were very expensive. Prices of spices as expensive as gold (gold). They desperately need spices for medicines industry.

b. The existence of a desire to spread Christianity (gospel)

In addition to seeking wealth and the colonies, the Europeans also brought a special mission. Special mission was to spread Christianity to the inhabitants of the area under their control. Their task is considered a sacred duty that must be implemented throughout the world, spearheaded by the Portuguese.

c. The existence of the desire for glory (Glory)

In Europe there is a presumption that if a country has a lot of the colonies, countries including the victorious nations (glory). Given this assumption, European countries are competing to find the colonies sebanyakbanyaknya.

d. Development of science and technology

With the development of understanding of the Renaissance, science and technology is also growing rapidly.
